I am a Minnesota licensed K-12 ESL teacher and have more than 16 years of experience training teachers in best practices for language learners. In addition, I have worked in educational non-profits as a program and executive director where I gained extensive experience writing, managing, budgeting, and reporting on private, corporate, and government grants.
I completed my doctorate degree (EdD) in Organizational Change and Leadership at the University of Southern California. My research interests include adult learning, organizational change management, leadership, teacher leadership, and peer coaching.
I currently serve as the Sr. Director of Language Solutions at Data Recognition Corporation. My consulting business, AOS Consulting LLC, was launched in 2019. As a consultant, I work closely with both English language and content area teachers, as well as school and district administrators, to support language learners. Through this work, I have trained teachers and faculty members both locally and in states across the country and in China. At Hamline University, I directed the $1.5 million dollar federal grant funded ELM Project, coordinated continuing studies, and collaborated with college leadership to support accreditation efforts.

Amy's expertise in English language development, as well as her focus on the unique needs of her clients, both impacted and improved the English learner program at Wyoming Public Schools. Amy is a strategic planner who is able to focus on the present challenge while also thinking forward to how each step in the professional development sessions will affect future programming to best serve our students. As she consulted and provided training to EL and mainstream teachers, Amy responded to teachers´ needs while simultaneously assessing how to best inspire instructors to refine their teaching to meet the needs of ELs. Amy collaborates meaningfully with educators whether they are veteran EL teachers, new teachers, mainstream teachers, paraprofessionals or administrators. She values the perspectives of every educator, and skillfully guides them into developing steps to expand their EL program or their own pedagogy. Because of her experience coaching teachers in a K-12 setting, and her experience as a professor and researcher, Amy has a keen eye for developing relevant curriculum. Not only is Amy a skilled and detail oriented project manager, she is also a pleasure to work with! - L. DeMaagd, Wyoming Public Schools
